I see you - a poem by Katy Brown

I see you

the way you move through the world, with kindness in your heart and honey on your lips, wrapping people in your arms whilst you give and give and give

I see you

cradle the grief in your body and worries in your mind, navigating which path to tread next on unsteady ground laden with dust and rocks

I see you

exploring your mind and soul, facing yourself with honesty, doing the work, slowly and patiently, evolving little by little

I see you

struggle with the weight of being human at times, weary from the doubtful voice, praying for a lightness to creep back in

I see you

willing the courage inside of you to wrap the words around your tongue, to speak out loud even when you’re terrified

I see you

bravely asking yourself if this is the life you actually want to be living, even though it’s the one that you once prayed for

I see you

dreaming of more time, more freedom, more pleasure. Space to breathe, to explore, to be

I see you

yearning for a connection so molten it turns your body to water, your hips to magic and your breath into gasps

I see you

imagining a different life and the guilt you feel for being less than grateful for the beautiful and complex one that you have

I see you

desperate to live a life that feels true, when all around the world is noisy and confusing

I see you

wondering if you are worthy of answering the ache in your heart that whispers only when it’s quiet

Please hear me

when I say

that you are
